Ottawa , Ont.: pay nurses or banks?

Last summer Ontario 's Liberal government signed a deal to build the new Royal Ottawa Hospital . Construction and operation of this one billion dollar project was given to a private company. Keeping the hospital in public hands could have saved $7 million a year. That money could have improved health care by paying for 117 new full-time nursing jobs.

Ontario will be stuck with this deal for more than twenty years. Over $140 million will go to the banks rather than to the jobs and health care services Ontario so desperately needs.

Hamilton Ont: Our bad water contract.
Guelph, Ont: an arena-mall complex gone bad.
London, Ont.: laughing all the way to the bank.
Ottawa, Ont.: pay nurses or banks?
Highway 407: ouch!
British Columbia: Examples abound.
